Tuesday Sector leaders: healthcare, technology and communications
THELooking at the sectors doing the best at noon Tuesday, shares of healthcare companies outperformed other sectors, up 0.3%. Within this group, Zimmer Biomet Holdings Inc (ticker: ZBH) and Perrigo Company plc (ticker: PRGO) are two large stocks leading, posting a gain of 6.3% and 3.7%, respectively. Among ETF health, the ETF next to the sector is the Health Care Select Sector SPDR ETF (ticker: XLV), which is up 0.1% on the day and 17.56% year-to-date. Zimmer Biomet Holdings Inc, meanwhile, is down 2.39% year-to-date, and Perrigo Company plc is up 5.88% year-to-date. Together, ZBH and PRGO represent approximately 0.7% of the underlying holdings of XLV.
The second best performing sector is technology and communications, losing just 0.1%. Among the big tech and communications stocks, Fortinet Inc (ticker: FTNT) and Xilinx, Inc. (ticker: XLNX) are the most notable, posting gains of 2.5% and 2.0%, respectively. The Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK), which closely tracks technology and communications stocks, is up 0.1% at midday and 21.12% year-to-date . Fortinet Inc, meanwhile, is up 104.85% year-to-date, and Xilinx, Inc. is up 11.58% year-to-date. Together, FTNT and XLNX represent approximately 0.7% of the underlying holdings of XLK.
