New website to provide vaccine information in Spanish for Hispanics / Latins
SACRAMENTO, CA & WASHINGTON – (COMMERCIAL THREAD)–Today, the California Chronic Care Coalition (CCCC), Healthcare Leadership Council (HLC), Looms4lupus and other partner organizations have launched YourVaccinationGuide.org in Spanish. The site provides important and easy-to-understand information about COVID-19 vaccines, which are not always readily available to Spanish-speaking communities. As the percentage of fully vaccinated people among Hispanics / Latinxes in the United States has increased, more reliable resources in Spanish are still needed to protect a community whose high rates of chronic disease often put them at higher risk of COVID. .
The prevalence of inaccuracies and the lack of precise information on the safety and efficacy of vaccines are an obstacle to combating the pandemic and eradicating other serious diseases. YourVaccinationGuide.org in Spanish will serve as a single site for vaccine information to reduce confusion and increase vaccine acceptance among Hispanics / Latinos.
The United States has the second largest Spanish-speaking population in the world (Forbes), which makes it especially important that accurate information is provided in Spanish. YourVaccinationGuide.org was translated by Partners Looms4Lupus, which is an organization dedicated to providing autoimmune disease resources and awareness in English and Spanish.
“We believed this was a critical step in supporting the health and well-being of the Hispanic population that we represent,” said Juana Mata, co-founder of Looms4Lupus. “We are excited to translate this essential information and to participate in YourVaccinationGuide.org’s efforts to provide more resources to Hispanic / Latin communities. ”
Latinos have high rates of chronic disease, which puts them at increased risk of serious complications and death from COVID-19.
“As patient advocates, we have seen the devastating impact COVID-19 has had on our communities, especially Latinos living with chronic illnesses,” said Liz Helms, President and CEO of CCCC . “Getting vaccinated is essential as we continue to make great strides in the fight against COVID-19 and its variants. We hope that having access to YourVaccinationGuide.org in Spanish will encourage more Latinos to get vaccinated.
YourVaccinationGuide.org in Spanish includes sections on COVID-19 vaccines, frequently asked questions and a vaccination checklist. The website is regularly updated to provide the latest information on COVID-19 vaccines. As the number of people fully vaccinated increases and the impact of the pandemic is lessened, the website will focus on other essential vaccinations.
“We believe that having YourVaccinationGuide.org available in Spanish makes it a more valuable tool in our efforts to come out of this pandemic and protect ourselves against a range of serious illnesses,” said Debbie Witchey, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of HLC. “The website provides Spanish speakers with information on the safety and effectiveness of these vaccines and addresses many common misconceptions about vaccination. ”
The California Chronic Care Coalition, the Healthcare Leadership Council, and other organizations have partnered to provide this basic consumer guide to vaccinations and COVID-19. The goal of YourVaccinationGuide.org is to educate the public about COVID-19 vaccines and the importance of staying current with other vaccinations for adolescents and adults.
