Launch of a website promoting health literacy
The Department of Health (DOH) on Monday launched a website aimed at educating the public about healthier lifestyle choices and the government’s response to COVID-19.
The Healthy Pilipinas website can be accessed via healthypilipinas.ph.
“There is a need to provide accurate and timely health information, especially now, not only because of the pandemic, but because it is too easy to be misinformed on social media,” said Dr Beverly Lorraine Ho, simultaneous director of the department’s Health department. Promotion Office and Office of Disease Prevention and Control.
“The Healthy Pilipinas website will be a credible source you can turn to.”
The website features the Seven Healthy Habits campaign which teaches the public about different healthy actions and behaviors.
It also links to the COVID-19 and ResBakuna campaign pages of the DOH main website for unified messaging and information regarding the pandemic and vaccination efforts.
The website will also attempt to create supportive health promotion environments with tips, articles and downloadable materials for local officials.
DOH partnered with the Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Association of the Philippines (PHAP) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) on the project. – Jiselle Anne Casucian / VBL, GMA News
