HSSC and C-DAC sign Memorandum of Understanding to establish CoE for smart technology in healthcare, Health News, ET HealthWorld

New Delhi: The Health Sector Skills Council, in collaboration with the Center for Advanced Computing Development (C-DAC), will establish a Center of Excellence (CoE) to develop specialized training programs to train health personnel in smart technologies in the field of health. The CoE would also facilitate research and support the creation of centers of competence in collaboration with the health industry.

The CoE will be used to develop skills/upskilling programs, train healthcare professionals in the use of healthcare products/solutions in the areas of digital health, artificial intelligence (AI), technologies healthcare, 3D printing, cybersecurity and other healthcare-related technologies. . This initiative is envisaged to give impetus to research and development in the field of AI and health technologies through the active participation of researchers and health professionals who will be able to work in tandem with the technologies after having acquired the necessary skills.

Speaking about the training of healthcare personnel with the latest medical technologies, Dr Naresh Trehan, Chairman of the Health Sector Skills Council, said, “Recognizing the need for healthcare personnel to be trained in new emerging technologies , a specific committee on “future skills in health technologies” has been set up under the CSSS academic committee. I hope this collaboration between HSSC and C-DAC will help design industry-aligned courses to prepare healthcare personnel for new technologies.

Commenting on advances in healthcare that can be powered by healthcare technology, Dr Devi Shetty, Chair of the HSSC Academic Committee, said: “This collaboration is the first step towards preparing our healthcare workforce to understand the technology and participate in its development and adoption process. This will not only prepare them for the future by improving their skills, but also help the whole ecosystem to adapt to futuristic technologies.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) marking the agreement was signed between the representatives of C-DAC and the CSSS. The agreement aims to bridge the gap between technologists and healthcare to solve fundamental problems by leveraging technology.
