Abu Dhabi launches new healthcare app for international patients

The Abu Dhabi Ministry of Health (DoH) has activated its remote healthcare platforms, in public and private healthcare facilities in the emirate, for international patients.

This app will allow overseas patients to access virtual medical consultations with their local doctors and an overseas doctor with international expertise, according to a statement.

Participating hospitals include Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, Tawam Hospital, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City and Burjeel Hospital.

In addition to scheduling sessions between the two doctors as well as discussing medical information about the patient before traveling abroad or upon return to the country, the platform will also allow examining patients prior to dispatch in order to reduce the length of the patient’s medical trip.

Patients will be referred to the appropriate health facility based on their condition, examinations and medical reports.

The application was produced in collaboration with the International Patients Care (IPC) division.

Hind Al Zaabi, Acting Director of the International Patients Care Center at DoH, said: “The activation of IPC remote healthcare platforms reflects our commitment to continue to provide world-class healthcare services to international patients. of the United Arab Emirates and to ensure that they receive the most appropriate type of health care. . “

“In these extraordinary times during the Covid-19 pandemic which imposed restrictions and challenges that made it difficult for patients to travel abroad for treatment, it was deemed necessary to create a platform bringing together doctors treating the Emirate with international doctors and patients to discuss their medical plans and cooperate to better serve patients, ”she added.
